Meet Andrew
Many men struggle silently with the weight of expectations, stress, and uncertainty. Some feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of who they are and who they want to be. At Uplift Therapy for Men, Andrew provides therapy for men navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, burnout, identity exploration, or difficulties in relationships. Too often, cultural expectations around masculinity encourage men to hide their feelings or push through without support. This can leave them feeling isolated, disconnected, or burdened by questions of whether they are “enough.”
How Andrew Works with Clients
Andrew’s approach begins with building trust. He creates a safe, non-judgmental space where men can feel heard, supported, and understood. His style is person-centred—meaning that empathy, authenticity, and respect for your lived experience guide the process. Andrew draws from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and experiential techniques. Together, you will work to make sense of what feels heavy in your life and begin to move toward clarity, resilience, and growth.
Andrew’s Journey into Therapy
Andrew’s path to becoming a therapist is both professional and personal. After completing his undergraduate degree in Psychology, he pursued a career in IT for over eight years. During that time, he encountered his own struggles with mental health, shaped by cultural expectations and the experience of being an only child in a family where emotions were rarely expressed. Through his own therapy, Andrew found healing, perspective, and a renewed sense of purpose—leading him back to his first passion: helping others. His lived experience adds depth to the empathy and understanding he brings into the therapy room.

Types of Therapy
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you develop psychological flexibility by teaching you to accept difficult thoughts and emotions rather than avoiding or fighting them. If you struggle with anxiety, stress, or self-doubt, ACT guides you in recognizing unhelpful patterns and shifting your focus toward actions that align with your values. Through mindfulness, cognitive defusion, and committed action, you learn to engage fully in the present moment and build a more meaningful life. This approach empowers you to respond to challenges with openness and resilience, improving overall well-being.
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. If you struggle with anxiety, depression, or negative self-talk, CBT teaches you practical strategies to challenge distorted thinking and develop healthier coping skills. By learning to reframe thoughts and take constructive actions, you can break free from cycles of stress and self-doubt. This evidence-based approach empowers you to manage emotions more effectively, build resilience, and create lasting positive change in your life.
-
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) helps you develop a kind and understanding relationship with yourself. If you struggle with self-criticism and shame, CFT teaches you to recognize these negative thoughts and replace them with self-compassion. By practicing mindfulness and self-soothing techniques, you learn to manage difficult emotions better and build resilience. This approach allows you to feel more connected to yourself and others, ultimately improving your mental well-being.
-
In Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, you’ll find that the focus is on finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems. This therapy helps you identify your goals and the steps you can take to achieve them. By exploring your strengths and past successes, you gain confidence in your ability to make positive changes in your life. This goal-oriented approach empowers you and motivates you to overcome obstacles, leading to quick and meaningful progress.
